Carolyn Lamme (Children’s Director)
has been a member of West Phoenix Baptist Church (WPBC) for over 45 years and learned about God’s love through a combination of Sunday School, bible study on Wednesday nights, and the amazing week of Vacation Bible School (VBS) year after year. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during VBS, and was baptized when she was 10 yrs old. Carolyn believes God called her at a very early age to work with children of all ages. She has been a volunteer at WPBC for over 35 years, taking care of and teaching children from birth through sixth grade. For the last 20 years, Carolyn has been co-teaching Sunday School, for 4 th -6 th graders, with her husband Greg; she also teaches Wednesday nights. Carolyn and Greg met in 1995 while they were serving in the same Army National Guard (ARNG) unit, and were married on November 16, 1996. They were blessed with four awesome children: Larry, Rheanna, Sarah and Zaina. All of their children attended Sunday School and were baptized at WPBC.
When Carolyn is not volunteering at church, she is working at Estrella Middle School in her full-time job, where she has been an 8 th grade Math teacher for 26 years. As well, she is a Sergeant Major in the ARNG, and has been actively serving for over 33 years. Throughout her careers, she has pursued higher education, earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice (NAU 1995), a Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certification (UOP 1999), and a M.A. in Educational Leadership (NAU 2008), completed over 60 hours of course work towards a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and hopes to have the opportunity to complete the degree (GCU 2014), graduated from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, residence course (Ft. Bliss, TX 2022), and is currently working on a K-12 Administrators Certification through NAU.
Carolyn is so fortunate for the opportunity to serve as WPBC’s Children’s Director and very grateful to have faithful volunteers as part of the team. There is no greater charge than to nurture children’s spiritual growth and give them a place to come and know they are loved. We will hold true to the traditions of educating and guiding children in their faith, by teaching biblical principles, fostering spiritual growth, and helping them apply Christian values in their daily lives. We understand how important it is to develop bible skills to obtain the ability to navigate the bible, in order to gain an understanding of scripture and strengthen a personal relationship with God.
